Nickel City Chef • March 7th
Nickel City Chef JJ Richert of Torches will face-off against Challenging Chef Carmelo Raimondi of Carmelo’s in Lewiston–Live!
This exciting and tasty event takes place in one of the city’s best kept secrets–a fully restored turn-of-the-century warehouse on Buffalo’s West Side. Completely outfitted with two competition-worthy kitchens, this unique setting is the ideal location for guests to enjoy snacks and cocktails while experiencing this one-of-a-kind cooking competition first hand.
Each chef is required to create the three dishes in under an hour, with each preparation showcasing a secret ingredient.
Nickel City Chef is hosted by WBFO’s Bert Gambini and the much-admired Buffalo chef and restaurant owner, Mike Andrzejewski.
A panel of judges will determine which chef prepares the most technically perfect, creative and delicious cuisine. As a member of the audience, you’ll even have a say by voting for your favorite!

Torches @ Taste of Buffalo • July 11th & 12th
Torches is pleased to be particpatin gin the 2009 Taste of Buffalo. Stop by our booth for a taste of Cubano Smoked Pork over steamed cilantro rice, Jamaican Jerk Wings with pineapple salsa, our classic Nickel City Mac & Cheese or a refreshing bowl of heart-healthy Gazpacho with Shrimp/Scallop Ceviche.
Chef JJ Richert will be conducting a cooking demonstration on the Culinary Stage on Sunday at 4:10. Stop by and learn how to prepare an elegant cocktail party with recipes for items like lamb meatballs with chimichurri sauce and whiskey smoked shrimp with pineapple and blueberry goat cheese.
